Why do the Bonita trek with camping?

A trekking experience through the Lençóis Maranhenses for those who want to walk between dunes and lagoons and spend a night camping amid the scenery of the National Park.

30 km trek | 1 night camping

For those who want to experience the Lençóis Maranhenses in a more immersive way, this experience combines two days of trekking with a night of camping among the dunes.

The route passes through Oásis Baixa Grande, with time to enjoy the lagoons, and continues to the Lagoa Bonita region.

Instead of returning at the end of the first day, the group camps during the crossing. The camping setup is handled by the team, while a support guide accompanies the group to carry the equipment needed for the camp.

It's an experience for those who love walking, being in contact with nature, and living a different kind of night in the Lençóis.

Camping

The group will be picked up from their accommodations starting at 4:30 AM in Barreirinhas. For participants staying in Atins, pickup starts at 6:30 AM.

In 4x4 vehicles, we travel for approximately 2 hours toward the National Park, up to the area near Rio Negro.

During the trip, we make a stop for a breakfast snack and to watch the sunrise.

From there, the trek begins, approximately 6 km long, taking on average 2 to 3 hours, until reaching Oásis Baixa Grande, with a stop to swim in the lagoons.

Arrival at the oasis is expected around 10:30 AM, followed by lunch.

After resting, we resume the trek for another 6 km to our camping area.

Upon arrival, the team sets up the camp and prepares the trail dinner.

Overnight stay: camping area in the Lençóis Maranhenses.

Breakfast, prepared by the guide, will be served at 4:30 AM, and at 5:00 AM we start the trek toward Lagoa Bonita.

This is the longest stretch of the tour, approximately 18 km of walking.

Along the way, we enjoy the sunrise and stop to swim in the lagoons and take in the scenery.

Arrival at the Lagoa Bonita area is expected around 10:00 AM, where lunch will be served.

After a short rest, we head back to Barreirinhas in a private 4x4 vehicle.

The tour ends with drop-off of participants at their accommodations.
