About the tour
The tour starts with pickup from your hotel or pousada in Barreirinhas, around 8am, in a 4x4 vehicle. We make a quick stop at a supermarket for anyone who wants to buy water, snacks and other drinks for the tour. Next, we cross the Rio Preguiças over a bridge and continue on a trek of about 1h30, to the Rio Preguiças River Mouth, where you can see the river meeting the Atlantic Ocean.
Then, we continue for about 15 minutes by 4x4 to Canto do Atins, the gateway to Lençóis Maranhenses National Park. At Canto do Atins, we stop for lunch, with local restaurant options available at the destination. Lunch is not included in the tour price.
After lunch, we continue the 4x4 tour through Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, visiting dune fields, lagoons and the coastline, with a swim stop and about 30 minutes to enjoy the lagoons.
The return to Barreirinhas happens around 4:30pm/5pm, depending on road conditions and time spent at each stop.
